AIRBRUSH TANNING PREP PROCEDURES:

Before your appointment:

Come in to get your Airbrush Prep Kit. See Prep Kit above.
Your skin must be as clean and soft as possible.
If you have extremely dry skin, use an oil based salt scrub exfoliator 36 - 48 hours prior to your Airbrush tan.
Do not use any oil-based product within 24 hours of your Airbrush Tan.
Just before receiving your Airbrush Tan, shower using Norvell TuneUp (A non oil-based exfoliator).
Make sure to shave before your Airbrush Tan.
Do not apply any lotion, oil, make-up or deodorant, as they will inhibit the DHA from absorbing into the skin.

What to wear:

Wear dark loose clothing to your appointment. Do not wear tight under garments, shoes, or other clothing that may rub off the Airbrush solution.
During your Airbrush Tan you may wear a dark bathing suit, underwear, or thong (whatever you feel comfortable wearing, which will give you the most bare skin for your Airbrush Tan. Do not wear any light colored clothing, to avoid staining.
Apply lip balm such as Designer Skin, Supre, or Australian Gold.
You may want to put an old towel on your car seat, to avoid staining the seat.

AFTER YOUR AIRBRUSH TAN:

Do not plan any activities that will cause you to sweat or cause your clothing to rub against your skin for at least 4 hours (preferably 8 hours)*.
Do not bathe or swim for at least 8 hours* after your Airbrush Tan. It is preferable to wait at least 16 hours* before using soap. This includes washing your hands.
Do not use harsh soaps any time prior to or after your Airbrush Tan. Use only mild body wash.
Do not apply any lotion for 8-12 hours after your session*.
After that, apply only a high quality lotion such as Designer Skin, Body Drench, or Supre Moisturizer, twice a day. These lotions are designed specifically for tanners and will not dry out your skin, as many over-the-counter lotions will.
To extend your tan further, we recommend using Norvell Pro-Long. Wait at least 24 hours after your Airbrush Tan, then use daily.
You may also purchase Sunless lotion, mousse, or sprays for touching up any areas necessary.
To maintain your tan have an Airbrush session every 7 to 10 days.

* you only need to wait 1-3 hours with Fast-Acting solution (no longer than 3 hours)

Note: This product does not contain sunscreens. "Sunless Tanning" does NOT provide protection from sunburn as a UV tan does. We recommend the use of high quality sunscreen whenever you are outdoors long enough to get a sunburn.

How does the Norvell Sunless Tanning System work?

The Norvell Sunless Tanning System uses three different types of bronzers. The one that is visible when the tanner is sprayed is a cosmetic bronzer which gives the “just off the beach” look but will wash away and should stay on the skin at least 8 hours. The DHA bronzer initially has no visible effect but will begin to react with the skin in 2-4 hours eventually replacing the cosmetic tan as it washes off. The ingredient “Eyrthulose” is a third type of slow reacting bronzer, similar to DHA, which enhances your color and extends the life of your tan.

We now offer "Fast-Acting" Airbrush solution.

The full tan will develop in 1 to 3 hours. This is perfect for those that need a last minute tan or those who don't want to wait 8 hours to shower. It is recommended that you do not wait longer than 3 hours to shower with the fast-acting solution.

What is AirBrush Tanning?

AirBrush tanning (also called Sunless Tanning, Spray Tanning, or UV Free Tanning)

uses certain chemicals to darken the outer layer of your skin.

The key ingredients in the solution used at Ship Shape Tanning are:

DHA (DiHydroxyAcetone), a natural product derived from sugar cane

& Erythrulose, a natural product derived from red raspberries.

Airbrush Tanning

For those people that cannot, should not, do not have time, or do not want to tan, there is now an alternative to tanning with Ultra Violet light. UV-free Airbrush Tanning is a sunless tanning solution that is applied evenly, as a fine mist, by an experienced technician. Don’t confuse this with the spray-on booths that lack the control that a technician has to evenly spray your entire body or only the parts that you want tanned. This procedure will give you an amazingly natural looking tan, although an Airbrush Tan does NOT provide any protection from sunburn, as a natural (UV) Tan does. Our Airbrush Tanning solution contains ingredients that are very good for the skin.

We take Airbrush Tanning very seriously

Because preparation is essential, we prefer not to take walk-in airbrush tans. We recommend an appointment with at least 24 hours notice. We will try to fit you in if it is an emergency, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so. There is an extra charge to perform an Airbrush Tan after hours. We require a deposit of $10 when the appointment is made. If you fail to appear, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, the deposit may be retained. We require that you follow the preparation list on this website, prior to & after your Airbrush Tanning appointment.

Airbrush Prep Kit or Maintenance Kit

We highly recommend that you purchase either our prep kit (designed for 1 airbrush tan) or Norvell Amber Sun Maintenance kit (designed for several airbrush tans). The prep kit includes sample of body scrub, tan extender, body wash, & moisturizers. The maintenance kit includes a carrying bag with a loofah & 2 oz bottles of body scrub, body wash, Pro-long tan extender, & 4 faces bronzing spray. When either kit is purchased you may have sticky feet and/or other airbrush products and accessories for 25% off.
